Thanks for any and all input!ĮDIT: I tried putting the videos that freeze at distinct spots into iMovie rather than opening with QTP, and the thumbnail is black and the video goes black (with no audio either) at the spot it would normally freeze at in QTP. So, perhaps some can disregard that part of the solution! (contributor: Leon French) Update: I double-checked the firewall enabling - I found it still worked if I disabled the firewall 'allow' settings. Now, I don't fully understand why that works - but it does in my case. However, the only solution that works for me is firewall and then moving those 2 plugins to the desktop. And others say to delete a folder in Documents for Adobe. Others say using Task Manager to close the Adobe server exe file. Other users report reinstalling Apple Quicktime as working. You may also need to make sure PP is allowed through the firewall and that your anti-virus (such as perhaps AVG according to some people) is not blocking it. It then all works but be patient as loading can take 1 min or 5. (If you wait as the program loads then freezes, you'll see each of these is the file Premiere Pro gets stuck on.) After doing this, use Task Manager to close PP and restart. The 2 files are called "ExporterQuicktime.prm" and "ImporterQuicktime.prm" and are plugins.

  • For Windows 7 64-bit and Premier Pro 5.5 (and perhaps 6 or others) this fixed it: Go to the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\Plug-ins\Common directory and move 2 files to your desktop - simple as that.
